iBooks not available in the UK or Europe?

One of the main areas in Steves Jobs’ keynote presentation of the iPad was iBooks, allowing the device to be used as an e-reader similar to that of Amazon’s Kindle. However, we have noticed that on the UK Apple site and a number of the European Apple sites (under the ‘Features’ tab) that the iBooks facility is not shown unlike the US site that clearly shows details of iBooks and an image to go with it.

Does this mean that Europe will not get the iBooks feature? Or does it simply mean that the iBooks feature will not be available at launch (in Europe) but will be available at a later date?

Future iPad models to include video recording?

A recent job vacancy at Apple would suggest that future models of iPad will have a camera, offering both video and still features for the device. The ‘Software Quality Engineer’ (specifically focused on the “iPad Media” segment of the division) job vacancy reads as follows: ‘The Media Systems team is looking for a software quality engineer with a strong technical background to test still, video and audio capture and playback frameworks. Build on your QA experience and knowledge of digital camera technology (still and video) to develop and maintain testing frameworks for both capture and playback pipelines.’ Ever since Steve Jobs gave his keynote speech there was surprise at the lack of camera on the iPad. There is even suggestion that the current iPad (at launch) will ship with a camera built-in but due to time constraints and possible design issues was not mentioned by Steve Jobs. The iPad Site feels this is unlikely but there is always a possibility this could be the case.

iPad camera pulled at the last minute?

It looks as though Apple where going to put a camera into the iPad but decided against it at the last minute. The photo shows what is apparently the iPad outer frame taken by repair company Mission Repair

Although the iPad is not yet for sale the company seems to have got a supply of iPad parts through unofficial channels.

Assuming that these pictures do show actual iPad parts it would suggest Apple did intend for the iPad to have a camera facility but rejected it at some point during the development stage.
